Longcase Clocks
James Atchison of London

Circa 1773

An antique English silver pair cased verge pocket watch with rare polychrome dial by James Atchison of London.

This rather unique English verge fusee pocket watch has a signed and dated full plate movement with square baluster pillars, pierced & engraved balance cock, chain fusee, and worm & wheel barrel set-up between the plates.

The time is displayed via gold rococo hands to the polychrome decorated enamel dial with Roman hour numerals.  The dial centre carries a pastoral scene with a shepherdess tending her flock in the foreground.

The silver pair cases are plain and in close to mint condition with original pendant and bow.  They carry matching hallmarks for 1773 and the casemaker's mark - HB (Henry Billingshurst).
