Joseph Windmills of London

Circa 1709

An early silver pair cased verge fusee pocket watch with champleve dial by Windmills of London - a most important early maker.

This exceptional early eighteenth century pocket watch has a signed and numbered deep fire gilt verge fusee movement with pierced Egyptian pillars, a finely pierced & engraved winged balance cock protecting the three arm steel balance, silver disc regulator, chain fusee, and worm & wheel barrel set-up between the plates.

The time is displayed via blued steel beetle & poker hands to the silver champleve dial which is signed "Windmills - London".

The silver pair cases are as close to mint condition as it is possible to get and carry the casemaker's mark - WI (William Jaques).
